Forces in the Field

I’ve just been picking through some of the images from the ‘Forces’ weekend at Culzean Castle – with its extensive menu of Medieval swordplay, engagements from the Napoleonic Wars and skirmishes from the American Civil War. Add in groups representing Second World War troops, campaigning suffragettes, a 1940s hair ‘salon’ and also a band of bikers (?).

It was a great event to watch; plenty of spectacle, entertainment plus educational opportunities – a great day out in fact.

It felt really unusual having an American Civil War re-enactment in the West of Scotland?
