The Lonely Sea and the Sky

When I need space, there’s nowhere better than the sea shore. Especially in the evening, the beaches, almost empty at that time, provide a solitude; an empty space to abandon your thoughts and simply absorb the vastness of our surroundings.

The light fading, the wind cooling won’t diminish the effect of being one with all that is outside your day-to-day. Lucky those people who need simply walk out their front door, but maybe more special to us who have to travel just a few miles. Small price to forget your worries and commune with nature.

    1. Thanks Sofia! When the sun is low and there is heavy cloud, those clouds have tints of amber and indigo. Emphasising that helps the image. I wasn’t sure this was appreciated but yours and other comments are really encouraging. Thank you!

  1. Wow, to answer your questions, Yes! The mood, drama, and appeal draw us right in. Such a softness to these photos. Is the last a lighthouse? Anyway, always a pleasure to see what you bring us, James. And thank you again for the challenge you hosted. You inspired so many with UP and DOWN.

    1. Thanks Donna! Yes that is a small lighthouse on an small island just off the coast. I’m hoping I can recreate that mood again. And it was a pleasure to host last week. Thanks for your support!

    1. I do like that second image too. The sun was so low it really lit up the buildings. I’m really pleased that you appreciate it. Thank you Ann-Christine!
