In the summer our little group took our spirit catchers to the Land of the Painted Castle. We arrived some time after curfew, and left our transportation in the designated area on the low field. Chattering and joking, we shuffled along the main carriageway towards the castle village. Silence fell about us as we cautiously entered the main courtyard. The place was empty and so quiet.
Behind us a door creaked open; a stooped figure appeared. We were found out……being challenged by no other than the Great Lord himself. He was unamused, raised his rightful objection. A discussion followed…. we grovelled… we apologised for our trespass at that late hour. We made offerings of goodwill …. agreement was reached.
And so, moving through ancient trees, we passed along a gravel path towards the castle itself, but then, on impulse followed the sign and so we came down to the grotto.
Water cascaded down – just a light flow following dry weather, but clearly torrents have over centuries carved out this great cavern from the sandstone rock. But, where were the faeries?
We set up our spirit catchers on their three-legs, our fingers worked the magic and we hoped all would turn out well. Behold!

After making such captures we became astonished as a darkness descended and odd hue came over the scene, and there above the falls, an apparition came to us. The apparition did what they always do…. it simply appeared … they can’t help it.

I was overwhelmed. Magical!
But it really didn’t look like a faerie to me.

Beautiful photos, great story. Excellent.

Sorry to hear you’ve been under the weather James, definitely lots of bad germs out and about these days. Have several friends who’ve been sick or still are as we speak. So glad you were able to “double-dip” on the two challenges, you’re so right that your post works for both! Glad to hear you’re feeling better and wishing you a wonderful holiday. Loved your response and your clever story behind the fun images.
