In Lens-Artists Challenge #385, Ritva asks us to submit images with Unusual Crops. It’s a great creative exercise to deliberately do these odd shots. But I have to say that I’ve let that part of creativity slip recently. So for this week I’m falling back on an old post from 2020 which I don’t think many Lens-Artists have seen. I took the images on a trip early one Sunday morning back in 2014 . I do hope you appreciate these shots with most these shots cropped in-camera. It was an exercise for me on unusual cropping.
Glasgow, 2014.
“The seductive shapes of the modern buildings at the Clydeside waterfront. If there’s any light at all, there are many opportunities for dramatic architectural images. I’ve tried here to find some compositions that perhaps are a bit out of the ordinary.
The area is a focus for entertainment, conference and media headquarters, but currently it’ll be very quite inside the venues like the Hydro, SECC, the Armadillo, the Science Centre and the Imax. I’m not at all sure when I’ll see it all again. Missing Glasgow!” JBM

Heavenly lost in the process, I guess! Brilliant and entertaining. Top shot for me is the houses and ladders – wish I had taken that one myself!

Thanks Ann-Christine! That’s one of my favourites too! It’s a shot of the roof of the Armadillo in Glasgow, a venue for conferences, concerts, etc. that holds 3,000 people. If you google for images of ‘Armadillo Glasgow’, you’ll be impressed by the building design, I’m sure.

Wonderful set James – your use of B&W is perfect, gives us a bit of an industrial feel.Loved the way your eye, and subsequently your camera, captured these.

I appreciate all of these photos, they are great. I share photos shown before occasionally if they suite the topic. I am going 2, 4, 5 and 6 are great crops to highlight architecture details.
