The Skelpies

This 33-foot-high stainless-steel sculpture at Port Glasgow is indeed a magnificent sight; a memorial to the centuries of shipbuilding on the Lower River Clyde and a means of honouring all those workers. It’s proper title is ‘The Shipbuilders of Port Glasgow’ but everyone calls them ‘The Skelpies’

Lighthouses at Port Glasgow

Found ourselves sitting in Burger King with rain hammering on the roof and streaming down the windows. Thankful for the refuge and some warm coffee.

Once the brutal downpour had expended its energy, we found the waterfront here at Port Glasgow quite deserted. After the storm this was indeed a peaceful place.
