I’d love to say I intended this shot, but I was simply taking a portrait shot in very dull light when the wee bird took off. It flies in the face of the ‘rule’ that every nature shot should be as sharp as possible right across the bird. But it gives me ideas about what can be done with a slowish shutter speed to add a bit of dynamism.

Robin and Friends
I know it’s more birds but this time of year lends itself to bird photography. There are more unusual visitors during the winter months, and the regular common birds come even closer to humans where there may be more food for the taking at this time of year.
These shots were taken in a local park where seeds are provided for the birds and Boy! do they love it. The nuthatch is more unusual only in that they usually stay hidden or move so fast they are not so easily spotted. I shall go back to get a better shot of a nuthatch.
