Just a Game?

Currently, the 2023 Rugby World Cup is underway in France. The Scotland rugby team unfortunately came up against the impressive South Africa team in their first match and lost out despite playing really well. They’ll get a couple of wins in their section but will need to beat Ireland on the 7th October to progress to the quarterfinals.

So, I thought this was a time to post a few rugby images, of which I now have many.

I’ve always enjoyed watching a game of rugby on television, but in recent years I’ve been taking my camera down to the Marr Rugby Club on some match days. Marr play in the Scottish Premiership so that matches are of high standard with lots of exciting play.

The commitment the Marr players show to their game is incredible considering their time involved with fitness and match training plus their efforts in the matches themselves.

I remember our first year secondary school class getting a lecture on the rules of rugby before we were even introduced to a rugby pitch. I could never play the game myself – apart from anything else I was one of the youngest in my year. But did remember those basic rules and I recall the Phys. Ed. teacher saying “Rugby isn’t a rough game; it’s a tough game.”

If you’re not familiar with rugby, I’ll let you decide what adjective you would use.
