Fighting the Flow

After the day’s toil
Here now on the water
Arms thrashing
Pulling with blades
Into the torrent

Over the weirs
Where waters rush
And body twists
To keep the balance

Heaving forward
Dragging back
Run with the surge, or
Fight the flow

Seizing control
Riding through turbulence
Till back in calm waters
Sensing freedom

These extras photographs were taken at the Pinkston Water Park in Glasgow. This set differs as I decided that the essence of the sport might be better achieved by not worrying if anything was in sharp Focus. So with a shutter speed of only 1/60 sec, I hoped to capture loads of movement. And I’m happy the way it worked out.
